The term Tithing comes from the Bible, meaning a tenth of your income goes to your local church. Tithing is not a God Tax or something to get God to love you more, after all He’s already crazy about you.
Instead tithing is meant to make you a giver. Tithing not only supports the efforts of your local church to spread the message of Jesus but it’s also a way to create a pattern in one’s life to be a giver first, before everything else.
Tithing is a very personal issue between you and God and it is a decision that one must feel comfortable with. Remember it’s not a salvation issue and you getting into heaven is not contingent upon tithing. But tithing is very important to support all of the resources, people and expenses that your local church incurs as they provide the Ministry of Jesus Christ.
